Many laws in Manitoba govern various aspects of daily living. Coming from a new country, most of these will be new to you. It is important to know these laws not only because there are penalties that come with breaking them, but more importantly, learning about them will help you and your family live safe and full lives in Manitoba.

The following talk, delivered by Grace Eidse, Executive Director of Altered Minds, Inc., talks about “Laws and services that protect us.” In this comprehensive talk, she touches on Canada’s three levels of government, the services they offer, as well as situations when laws, family values and culture overlap. She also discusses laws in context, sharing their historical, social, and political basis, to provide newcomers with a good grasp of how and why there are such laws in Canada:
