Week 2 – Test

You are probably familiar with the idea of networking for professional purposes.  Networking is  one of the ways to access the job market, especially its hidden part.  There are many approaches you can take to connect with like-minded professionals in your field: join professional associations, attend seminars and conferences, volunteer at organizations related to your career, etc.

Living in a digital world redefines networking tools and approaches. Online becomes a new dimension that allows you to double your networking efforts.

  • Have you joined your professional organization? You can follow their social media accounts to know current news and trends.
  • Do you go to seminars or conferences? Check for online events in your field. Often, you can find webinars or courses to hone your skills and expand your networking opportunities.
  • Do you know companies, organizations or businesses that can be your potential employers? Or professionals who are role-models for you? You can add them to your online network and establish professional relations with them.

Just like you connect with people face to face, you can do so online. Your printed business card becomes an online profile, and your resume turns into an online portfolio.

While online brings many opportunities to build, expand and nurture your network, it also requires using certain skills and adhering to common rules. This week, we will focus on learning about digital presence and using social media for professional purposes.
