Step 2

Read the following dialogue to see the idioms in context:

Yuliana:Look at you! Why do you look so happy today?
Tatiana:Well, yesterday, out of the blue, I received an email from IRCC regarding my brother’s permanent resident application. It has been accepted! I called him right away. His jaw dropped when he heard about it. We haven’t heard anything from IRCC for the last 11 months.
Yuliana:That’s great! So that’s why you look so excited. Congratulations!
Tatiana:Thanks! My husband was struck dumb when he got the news though. He has some personal issues with my brother, and he doesn’t want him to be here in Canada.
Yuliana:Oh! Then it must be a difficult situation for you.
Tatiana:Can you imagine my husband did a double take when I showed him the email? Anyway, I am so happy that my brother will join me soon.
Yuliana: No kidding, this news must’ve knocked your socks off! Let’s go out and celebrate the occasion.

Step 3
