3. Explore a language sample

We’ve used the before-during-after approach to watching videos since Unit 1 in this course, so by now you should have a pretty good idea about how this approach works.

Step 1

Watch a video about exploring language samples.

Step 2

Why don’t you try a listening sample? This CBC EAL lesson: “Living in a Fast Speaking World” will walk you through the before-during-after approach while exploring a radio show sample. Follow the steps in the lesson to experience the thinking/learning process behind this approach.

Step 3

Use the before-during-after approach and explore a reading sample with a peer. Get together on Skype and discuss the article: “You are the Master of Your Life”, located on page 25 of “The Past is Another Country”.
