Beth: | Congratulations! I hear you just got a new job! |
Olga: | Thank you. I didn’t get the position I was hoping for, but at least I got my foot in the door. |
Beth: | Oh, what happened with the job you applied for? |
Olga: | I didn’t get it. The problem may have been that I didn’t have some photocopies that I needed to present. I asked my son to get them for me, but he wasn’t able to. I’m not going to pass the buck, though. It was my fault. I should have gotten them myself. |
Beth: | Oh well. Tell me about the job you did get. |
Olga: | Well, I’ll be working directly under the assistant to the director of the company. I have 3 weeks vacation, lots of educational opportunities and plenty of room for advancement! |
Beth: | That sounds like a golden opportunity. |
Olga: | It sure is. I really want to hit the ground running, so I am going to study the employee manual over the next couple of weeks. |
Beth: | Sounds like a great idea! A little elbow grease and preparation will take you far in the company! |
Olga: | Thanks Beth! Have a great day. |
Beth: | You’re welcome. If there is anything I can do to help, please let me know! |
Olga: | Will do. Thanks again! |
